Maha Yahya, Carnegie Middle East Center's director, joined Brian T. Hanson's podcast Deep Dish from the Chicago Council on Global Affairs to discuss the implications of President Donald Trump's decision to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Yahya explained why this is such an explosive issue and how the move sets back the already stalled peace process even further. Yahya also pointed out that by accepting Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Trump torpedoed the potential role of the U.S. as a neutral broker in the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis. Moreover, Yahya added that this decision also contravenes an international UN resolution.
